Hope for the Future

Hope for the Future
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com/
Jeremiah 29:11…… “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
God wants the best for you.
As we stand on the threshold of another new year, let us be assured that God Almighty wants this coming year to be the best ever. As we step into our future, the plan of God for our life is to bless us beyond anything we have experienced so far.
This is a good time to remember what God has done for us up to now. Despite the financial chaos of the world, despite the ecological disasters and despite the moral depravity of lurid inhumanities, our Lord has not only sustained us but He has enabled us to overcome and to triumph.
Our faith has been stretched but God has honoured and blessed those who have trusted in Him. We are now stronger than ever and we are strategically placed to go from victory to victory. Glory to God.
A great excitement and anticipation rises within us. There is a sense of awe filling our spirit and soul, a rising awareness of the growing urgency to reach those who do not know Jesus.
God is equipping and preparing us to bring multitudes into His kingdom. A mantle of boldness and fearlessness has replaced apathy and despair. We are rallying to His call to go out into all the world and make disciples. It is harvest time, it is time to reach our family and friends. They will be saved and now is the time. I feel truly blessed and exhilarated to live in such a time as this.
The lies and deceit of the secular media serve to make us stronger in our resolve to swim against the current of world affairs. Let us gather those who are struggling into our slipstream and strengthen them with the truth of God’s word and His promises.
2010 is the time for all men to come to know Jesus and be born again.
Hallelujah, what a Saviour; our glorious King Jesus. Amen

God’s Preparation Plan

God’s Preparation Plan

Video: http://thegist.weebly.com/

Matthew 16:2-4 ……. He replied, "When evening comes, you say, 'It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,' and in the morning, 'Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.' You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah." Jesus then left them and went away.

Looking at the accompanying video for the Gist this week, you may think that I have my head in the clouds. You may think that I am too caught-up in heavenly matters to be any earthly good. Perhaps you prefer to side with the majority of Christians in these cataclysmic times and you adopt the ‘ostrich approach’ – you bury your head in the sand and hope that all the bad things will go away. That is not going to happen, they are not going away.

We are living in the End Times; the ‘bad things’ are going to get worse but the good news is Jesus Christ is on His way back to take the Christian believers away. We talked about this last week in ‘The Rapture’ Gist. God does not want anyone to be left behind, therefore, He is using every manner of means to prepare mankind for the Second Coming.

He is preparing us through secular and Christian media. I have never been aware of so many articles or so many discussions and documentaries looking at the current global crisis. It seems everyone is aware that we are on the brink of something awesome that is about to happen. Of course, the bible clearly tells us what is happening and what is about to happen.

Some people are saying that it is the end of the world. It may not be the imminent end of the planet earth but when the rapture takes place it will change all of our lives, some for good and others for bad.

The world will try to explain it away with all kinds of theories and hypothesis. These will be lies and many will be deceived. The truth is that Jesus is about to come back for every believer; the dead believers shall be raised and every living believer will be caught-up together with them in the clouds (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

Are you prepared for what is about to happen?

Lord Jesus, come soon. Amen

The Rapture

We are aware that due to the proliferation of Social Networking sites some of you may now receive The Gist from a variety of sources. If this irritates you we apologise and ask you to send us a comment or email stating your preferred source of information from TheWayCM. We will do all that we can to ensure that your choice becomes your unique point of delivery. Thank you.

The Rapture
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com/
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 …… For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
Fuelled by the Hollywood blockbuster 2012, there is a growing global awareness that the planet earth is heading for a cosmic crisis.
Backed by incessant Earth Summits and Global Warming Conferences, the evidence is stacking-up to conclusively prove that even if we all act now it may be too late to save our violated planet.
No matter where you take your political or ecological stance, there is no getting away from the fact that our world is on the brink of unprecedented celestial change. The Mayans talked about it, Nostradamus talked about it and the bible talks about it.
Despite what the soothsayers and scaremongers say, I do not believe that earth is about to be completely destroyed – not yet anyway. However, I do believe that a worldwide event is about to happen that will change life on our planet forever. I believe that event is the Rapture.
Soon and very soon, I believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is coming back to take away every Christian believer. Furthermore, I believe that science and secular institutions are coordinating the release of information concerning world events in preparation for explaining away the potential disappearance of approximately one-third of the human race.
The bible clearly explains through the unfolding of End Times Prophecies that the Rapture will happen soon. There is no longer an ‘if’ but there is a very pressing ‘when’. We must interpret the signs of the times but we cannot predict a day or an hour (read Mark 13:32).
Will you be taken or will you be left behind? You can choose today. If you do not know Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour you can invite Him into your heart now. Ask Him to forgive you for your selfish, sinful life and to become your Lord and Saviour.
When the Christian believers are gone, so too will the grace of God be removed from the earth. If you think it is bad now, it is about to get a whole lot worse.
Marantha, come soon Lord Jesus. Amen

Celebrate Christmas

Celebrate Christmas
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com/
Matthew 1:23 ……. The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" — which means, "God with us."
In a world that is desperately searching for answers, we have made a good job of hiding Jesus.
We have successfully removed Him from our western schools and a long time ago we put an ‘x’ where His name should be in ‘Christmas’. There is now a move afoot to remove the traditional festive greeting, “Merry Christmas”, from our vocabulary and replace it with “happy holidays”.
What about the subtle rise in unsubtly decorating our homes, gardens and Christmas cards with icons of the ‘counterfeit trinity’; ‘Father’ Christmas, the snow-‘man’ and the ‘fairy’ lights that shine with electric glory (when they work!)? Please do not misunderstand me, I love Christmas decorations that enhance the joy of the festive season but Jesus not Santa, snowmen, lights and tinsel must remain the real focus of Christmas.
For fear of offending our anti-Christ society we have resorted to tip-toeing around on the egg shells of political correctness. Other faiths are laughing at Christians because they would never dream of making such compromises.
It is time to stand up for Jesus and shout His name from the rooftops. Christmas is all about the Christ.
He is alive, He is here and He is Lord of all; Immanuel – God with us. A child was miraculously born around this time 2000 years ago. In the space of His tragically short time as God incarnate and through His death and resurrection He became the Lord of all.
He conquered sin and death for all mankind and made a way from earth to heaven for those who believe in Him.
If He is your Lord why not let the world know. Let us make these holidays happy for a miserable world by celebrating the birth of Jesus and declaring with one enthusiastic voice, “Merry Christmas”.
Powerful and amazing Lord Jesus, You are the Champion of the World at Christmas and all the year round. Amen

Non Toxic Jesus

Non Toxic Jesus
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com/
2 Thessalonians 2:16-17 …….. May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.
A phrase I have heard being used a lot recently is, ‘toxic relationships’. Apparently, these are relationships where one or both partners are poisoning the other with a negative, critical attitude.
It seems that we can all insidiously fall into the trap of being toxic or being poisoned without really knowing it. We can even have long-term friends who have been negatively influencing us but because we consider them to be our friends we have not noticed it.
What do we do abut it? Well, take an objective look at those around us and consider their influence upon us. We should also look at ourselves and listen to how we speak.
As Christians our standard is the life of Jesus and the word of God. Are we magnifying Him in all we think say and do? Are our words in line with biblical truth or have we unconsciously become subversive heretics?
Is Jesus at the centre of our lives or have we sidelined Him? Is He the fulcrum that keeps us balanced or have we gone off kilter?
From time-to-time we need to take a step back from ourselves and look objectively at who we are. If our lives have become poisoned by the world around us we need to take the antidote to stop that venom from killing us. We need to inject Jesus back into our sanctified souls so that He fills our hearts once again and what comes out of the overflow builds-up and encourages those around us.
Lord Jesus, please be my words and my actions today and always. Amen

Their Jesus

Their Jesus
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com/
Isaiah 53:2b ……. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.
Sometimes we can take things for granted. We make assumptions based on presumptions and end up in error.
When I was at school we started every day with the whole class, including the teacher, reciting The Lord’s Prayer. Not any more.
“Merry Christmas” has been substituted with “Happy Holidays” and an ‘X’ now replaces ‘Christ’ in Christmas. What we took for granted has been removed to appease political correctness to avoid offending our antichrist society.
It is time for a radical rethink.
From the time that Christ was taken out of our schools we have created an X-generation who have little or no concept of who Jesus really is. The UK is no longer a Christian nation; that ‘X’ now represents all kinds of things. We have taken Christ for granted and He has been replaced by something else.
As I travel around the world I have discovered that my Jesus is not necessarily the same Jesus to Christians in other places. It is a huge mistake to presume so. Even among Christians, Jesus has become Lord X; a character with a personality of our own making. We all talk about Jesus but we are not all talking about the same person.
It is time to rediscover who Jesus Christ truly is. It is time for us all to meet Him in the Most Holy Place and to know Him intimately in every aspect of His glorious multi-faceted being. He is crying out for lovers; He is calling out for disciples.
It is time for us all to meet the awesome Jesus of the bible and stop making the assumption that Christians know who He is. When we do this we will be able to present a wonderful, fascinating and relevant Jesus to a lost generation and replace that ‘X’ with the Cross.
Lord Jesus, please forgive us for taking Christianity for granted. Amen

Freedom

Freedom
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com
Galatians 5:1 ….. It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
For years I have had problems with what is called ‘deliverance ministry’. Please do not misunderstand me, unsaved people are full of the world and that can often include demons, but when we come to Jesus at the cross at Calvary and give our lives to Him, we are set free.
That does not mean that we no longer have issues in our life to confront and deal with but it does mean that we now filled exclusively with the Holy Spirit and no other evil or demonic spirits are in us.
At Calvary, Jesus washes us clean with His precious blood and a process of sanctification begins. The Holy Spirit helps to refine us and we progressively become more and more like Jesus.
However, sometimes during this process, we come across well meaning people with a ‘deliverance ministry’ and they want to help Jesus to set us free.
This can often involve frequent visits over days, weeks, months and even years, as they take the unfortunate Christian on a regressive journey even, not uncommonly, as far back as the womb. This inward journey usually requires the ‘demonised’ Christian to writhe, scream and throw-up in a bucket as the ‘demons’ manifest at each appointment.
People I have met who have fallen victim to such ‘ministry’ are usually really messed-up and I ask myself if they are more messed-up after this ‘deliverance’ experience than before they started.
Sure, we all have scars from before we were saved; bad memories that need to be dealt with but making appointments to visit Doctor Deliverer is not the answer.
Christ THE deliverer is all that anyone needs to be completely set free.
However, this requires that we entirely surrender all to Jesus. Without our total and full surrender there will never be absolute freedom.
Our life ends and begins at Calvary when we are born again. Only Jesus Christ, the Son of God, can do this.
Thank you Lord Jesus that you came to set free. Amen

The Way Christian Ministries Mission to India
Our mission to India has been postponed until early in the new year of 2010.
Praise God for His perfect timing and His perfect plan.
Whilst we are sincerely grateful to those of you who have already contributed we are still short of our target figure. Therefore, we are asking you to consider helping us raise the necessary funds for this mission.
Ground-Breaking
This will be a pioneering and ground-breaking mission.
We want to put in place the technology required for setting-up the prototype for ‘virtual conferences’. We believe this will lead the way for Global Multimedia Interactive Conferencing that will connect the growing number of TheWayCM members around the world.
We will be able to feed and disciple them in a highly effective way.
Making Disciples
It is our purpose to make disciples out of Christians in fulfilment of the Great Commission and to do that we need to utilise the tools of the 21st century

Blessed

Blessed
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com
Psalm 144:13 …… Our barns will be filled with every kind of provision. Our sheep will increase by thousands, by tens of thousands in our fields….
More and more often I find myself reflecting on how blessed I am. I am tremendously blessed. Ever since I came to know Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour, over twenty years ago, He has blessed me abundantly. In fact, even before I knew Him, even when I was a sinner, God was looking out for me.
I know that the very breath I breathe is because of the love of God, His grace and His faithfulness. I am overwhelmed by the goodness of God.
There has never been a time when I have not had enough food to eat and enough food to share. Progressively, over the years, God has enlarged our ministry to become tens of thousands of members in the mission fields of the world. His anointing has increased to our leaders who are also greatly blessed and are in turn blessing many.
I cannot understand why some Christians moan and complain about their life. Yes, challenges come but Jesus never forsakes us, He never abandons us. He turns our challenges into triumphs.
Take some time right now to recall the goodness of God towards you; count your blessings. I guarantee that very quickly you will be thanking God and praising Him. You will repent for your ingratitude and begin to magnify the name of Jesus.
If you are not rejoicing with a heart that is full of thanksgiving and praise to God, perhaps it is because you have never given your life to Jesus. You can do that right now and immediately you will have something phenomenal to sing about. You will have been blessed with the gift of eternal life; rescued from death and darkness and brought into His marvellous light.
I am abundantly blessed, are you?
Lord Jesus, thank you for blessing us phenomenally. Amen

Soulish Prayer

Soulish Prayer
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com
Jude 1:18-20 …….. "In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires." These are the men who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit. But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith and pray in the Holy Spirit.
As we discovered in recent Gists, often we do not know how we ought to pray (Romans 8:26). At times like these the Holy Spirit helps us. Therefore, the last thing we should do when we do not know how to pray is to go ahead and pray out of our soul because this will invariably do more harm than good.
Our soul comprises our mind, our will and our emotions and it will conceive an amazing assortment of unsanctified good ideas. As Godly as these good ideas might seem, if they were not inspired by the Holy Spirit, no matter how much we dress them up in religious sounding Christianese, they are soulish.
Rather than praying the will of God to be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10), we end up praying our own will from our own understanding influenced by how we feel. These kinds of prayers are unspiritual and selfish. The words that we speak can be creative or destructive; a blessing or a curse (James 3:9-10).
Soulish prayers are counter-productive and can be used by the enemy to block and delay the heavenly response to genuine Holy Spirit inspired prayers (Daniel 10:12-13). Surely, true and genuine Godly prayer is born out of an intimate, deep and personal relationship with God our Father. We can only have such a relationship if we have met Jesus Christ at Calvary and become Christians.
Once born again and baptised in the Holy Spirit (John 1:29 and 33), not only do we have access to God in heaven but we have insight into His heart of compassion. As we spend time with Him we come to know His will as the Holy Spirit leads us in progressive revelation. Jesus teaches us how to pray.
When we pray like Jesus we will see life-changing and world-changing miracles happen all around us as the will of God is done on earth as it is in heaven.
Lord Jesus, please help us to pray like you. Amen

Praying in the Spirit

Video: http://thegist.weebly.com/
Romans 8:26 …… In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
We have already established what prayer is and what prayer is not. Now, it is time to look at how to pray effectively.
Prayer is hearing God and declaring what He says. The key in this is hearing God. Every born again and baptised in the Holy Spirit Christian can hear God, we simply need to learn how to listen. God is so creative that he can communicate to us in any way He chooses.
We learn from Romans 8:26 (above) that one such way can involve the use of Tongues. God wants Christians to have this Spiritual gift; ask God to give you it and He will. Use the Gist Video this week as a catalyst to help you if you do not already speak in tongues and follow this link if you need more help: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-CE2THFaOQ
However, the focus here is not the gift but the purpose for the gift. When we exercise the Gift of Speaking in Tongues it will stir-up the Holy Spirit within us and when this happens, the complementary gift of the Interpretation of Tongues will help us to understand what we are saying. We can then pray the will of God as revealed by the Holy Spirit and we can press-in deeper as we pray with the Spirit and the understanding.
This kind of effective, fervent prayer is like white-water rafting with the Lord, it has all the thrills and spills of riding the rapids. It is dynamic and exciting. It is overcoming prayer; mighty to the pulling down of strongholds and removing obstacles that would try to block us. It is mountain-moving prayer.
Why are we waiting? Rise up army of God and let us begin to see the kingdom of God advance upon the Devil and his dark, depressing, debauched and deceptive lies that are the foundation of his world.
Passionate, praying Christians are not weak and impotent. We have an arsenal of primed prayer missiles that will hit every target that God helps us to identify. We can destroy the works of the enemy and establish the will of God against sickness, poverty, depravity and hopelessness. The victory belongs to Jesus.
Lord Jesus, shake us out of our apathy and stir us up to battle. Amen

Prayer

Video: http://thegist.weebly.com/
Romans 8:26 ……. In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.
Prayer is an awesome privilege, it is powerful and life-changing. It is not about mumbling a list of requests or even about dialogue with God. It is about speaking out prophetic proclamations of faith inspired by the Holy Spirit.
If our prayers do not come through revelation by the Holy Spirit, what then are we saying? Jesus taught his disciples (us) to pray in Matthew 6: 9-13 . It is the will of God that we will pray His will to be done on earth and God reveals His will to us by the Holy Spirit. If we are not hearing the Holy Spirit what are we praying?
This is dangerous because what we say is extremely potent. Our words are able to build-up or destroy; to bless or to curse. Our prayers should not come from our minds, they should not even come from our hearts. They should only come by way of revelation from the Holy Spirit.
Yet, as we see from Romans 8:26 (above), many of us do not know how to pray. Sadly, this means that what we think of as prayer can be working against the will of God. Unless we are expressing what God has inspired us to say, our prayers are not only soulish and counter-productive, they can be very dangerous.
It is like giving children a bomb to play with, not only will they destroy themselves but they will damage and destroy much of what is around them. Well meaning but naïve Christians can be doing more harm than good.
To pray effectively we need to spend time in the presence of God listening. When we have heard God speak to us we will know His will and then we can begin to pray as Jesus taught us.
Lord Jesus, thank you for teaching us how to pray. Amen.

Be Prepared

Video: http://thegist.weebly.com/
2 Timothy 4:2 ……. Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season…..
There is only one way to prepare ourselves to be ready ‘in season and out of season’ and that is to build a lifestyle that is centred on Jesus; a lifestyle that is Christocentric.
How do we do that? We need to practice His presence. From the mundane to the sublime Jesus is our constant companion. He told us that He will never leave us.
Once the revelation of this truly dawns upon us we will begin to practice His presence; talking with Him and Him talking with us, loving Him and receiving His love, simply being with Him as our best friend who, at the same time, is our saviour and the king of the whole universe. He is God. Wow! This is the privilege and the lifestyle of a Christian, a disciple of Jesus.
To help us to know Him better we want to read the bible, the word of God, which is all about Jesus, the Word of God made flesh. However, we do not read it to know Him only in our head, we read the bible to know Jesus in our heart. God the Holy Spirit helps us to do that.
The Holy Spirit inspired men to write the bible. That means He is the author. As Christians, born again and baptised in the Holy Spirit, the author brings the bible alive in our human spirit and, by revelation, we come to truly know Jesus.
By nurturing this relationship we come to know Him intimately. He is the lover of our soul and when we talk about Him to others they sense this amazing love. When we share our hearts with others they catch a glimpse of what they could also have if they become Christians.
Thank you Jesus, you poured out your love for everyone. Amen.

Grieving

100th Video on YouTube this week!
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com/
2 Corinthians 1:3-4…….. Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles…..
Grieving is a gift from God to help us to cope with loss and bereavement. If we allow the grieving process to run its course our lives will return to normal and we will retain our health and our sanity.
This process for some will take only days, for others it could be weeks, months or even years. It is helpful for us to understand what the process is.
Normally, after the loss of a loved one or perhaps a major lifestyle change, we will initially be overwhelmed by a sense of great sadness. This sadness can lead to confusion and anger and we ask, why did this happen?
This anger can often become self-focused and we begin to blame ourselves and question if it was our fault. This can lead to regrets that we did not do enough to prevent it.
Though prayer and the word of God we discover that it was not our fault and we are not to blame. God brings solace and He comforts us and this leads us into peace. From there we are able to make the necessary adjustments, pick up the pieces and get on with our lives.
Our faith in God brings order back into our personal crisis. He was not to blame and neither were you. Acceptance and trust help us to build our shattered life and we now grieve as one who has hope. We can see light at the end of the tunnel and the future begins to look brighter.
I have no idea how people who do not know Jesus, non-Christians, manage to cope in the midst of a trauma. We do not grieve like those who have no hope.
Lord Jesus, thank you for being our saviour and our peace. Amen.

The Weather

I know that we shouldn't be affected by the weather, but don't you just feel good when the sun shines? I do!
The last couple of days where we live in Scotland have been glorious. I have been able to do a bit of work outside around our house (which is for sale) and I have even been able to go for some walks with my wife Nancy. Yes, it feels good.
The trees are beginning to change colour and autumn is on the way. Can you believe it? Autumn already! What happened to our 'BBQ Summer'? There's already a wee nip in the air, soon the early mornings and the nights will have a frosty feel; the starry host will sparkle in a diamante canopy above us.
It's a gorgeous time of the year, the squirrels are going nuts collecting their winter food, the sun's lengthening shadows point the way to the end of British Summer Time - we will gain an hour next month; a last chance to see daylight before the night's start drawing-in and Scotland prepares to hibernate in perpetual dusk and darkness.
However, before that, we have nature's coat of many colours, the majestic splendour of stoic trees backlit in golden sunshine as the last remnant of their summer leaves fall graciously earthward to blanket the ground beneath them, tucking it snugly-in to brave-out the inevitable, unstoppable winter.....

Sin

Sin
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com/
Galatians 6:8 …….. The one who sows to please his sinful nature, from that nature will reap destruction; the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.
I am amazed that there is a generation growing-up who do not know what sin means. Not only do they have no concept of what sin is, they have no idea what the word means. By this understanding, sin must be an ‘old-fashioned’ word from a bygone era with an archaic language. Sin is, therefore, a ‘Christianese’ word with no relevance today.
What then do we do when we want to lead a person in ‘the sinner’s prayer’? We have to back-peddle quite a distance and begin with an explanation of ‘sin’, remembering to keep it simple (but not patronising) and avoid ‘archaic Christianese’ that uses irrelevant words that hold no meaning.
Here goes……. Sin is a wall that we build, it separates us from God. Every time we do, say or think something that is contrary to the nature of God, we put another brick in the wall. Human beings are born with a ‘sin nature’ – we naturally sin.
Sin can be saying things that are not true (the word ‘lies’ is possibly another ‘meaningless’ word), it can be stealing big things or even little things, it can be killing a person. There are many kinds of sins but no matter how big or small, every one of them puts another brick in the wall that separates us from God.
God hates sin because it separates us from Him. He wants that wall to be pulled down and removed. God loves us all and He loves us all the time but we cannot enter into a relationship with God until we really understand our need to be forgiven, by God, for building that wall.
It can be done.
Firstly, we have to hate that wall as much as God does; every stinking, self-centred, self gratifying brick. When we do, we will also want that wall removed. However, no matter how hard we try we cannot remove it……. We no sooner remove a brick or two and a few more appear that we had not even noticed before.
To completely remove this wall we need to change our lifestyle and to do that we need help. God wants to help us. He sent His son Jesus Christ who has made available all that we need to succeed. His blood, poured out for us at His death, can dissolve every brick in the wall of sin if we ask Him. It can be done in an instant.
When the wall is gone we will know the love of God, it will wash over us and we will do all that we can to make sure that nothing will block it from reaching us again.
God can help us to live like a completely different person. He can help us to make good choices instead of bad ones.Jesus wants to flood our hearts with the love of God. If we look at His life revealed in the bible and live like Him, this love, appreciation and gratitude between us will grow stronger every day. If we ask the Holy Spirit of God to teach us all about Jesus, He will.
This new lifestyle, full of love and freedom, is what God wants for all of us. If you want it, you can have it.
Lord Jesus, please forgive me and take away my sin. Teach me your ways so that I can live like you. Thank you for your amazing love today and for ever. Amen.

The Bride of Christ

Video: http://thegist.weebly.com/ (all links are live – click them and see)
Revelation 21:2 …… I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.
Jesus Christ is coming back for a beautifully prepared bride (Revelation 19:7). The marriage of the Lamb (the sinless Lamb of God; Jesus) will take place in heaven (Revelation 19:9).
Who is this bride? To fully understand we need to go back to Genesis 2:21-22. In order to find the perfect partner for Adam in the primeval Garden of Eden, while he was sleeping, God created her out of Adam’s own body using one of his ribs. Eve came out of the man and she was called woman.
The Christian church is often called the body of Christ. The true church of Jesus Christ has to come out of Jesus, out of His victory at Calvary, out of His blood shed and His body given.
While Jesus was dead and buried for three days after His crucifixion, God was busy re-establishing His divine order on the earth. The prophetic formation of His bride was being made while Jesus, the second Adam, was in a deep sleep. All authority was given back to Jesus, the authority that Satan duped from man in Eden. When Jesus rose triumphantly from the grave, the Son of Man was now the supreme authority over all the earth, just as God had intended from the beginning (Genesis 1:28).
At the point of His ascension back to heaven, Jesus delegated His authority to his disciples, His little church, and He gave them the Great Commission which, in effect, was a re-commissioning of what God had said to Adam and Eve in the garden.
Ten days later, on the day of the Feast of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came in power upon the disciples and all who were gathered in the Upper Room. The result of that was the birth of the world-wide church of Jesus Christ and the beginning of the outworking of the Great Commission.
Since then, the church has been preparing for the return of Jesus to come and take the church as a prepared bride to Himself. To come back to earth and sweep His bride off her feet. To catch her up to Himself in the clouds, enraptured by His love.
The wedding will take place in heaven and there we will remain until the founding of a new heaven and a new earth. In that place the bride and the bridegroom, Jesus and His church, will live gloriously and magnificently for all eternity.
Lord Jesus, we are making ourselves ready. Amen

Church

Church
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com/
Ephesians 5:25-27 ……. Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless.
What is church? Well, without stating the obvious, church is not a building but rather the gathering together of believers in any place.
The Christian church is the gathering together of believers in Jesus Christ who are born again and baptised in the Holy Spirit and where the full outworking of the gifts and the fruit of the Holy Spirit are evident for all to see.
This gathering together is for fellowship, mutual encouragement and edification. The format of church is not a formula neither is it rooted in dogma or doctrines. The believers look after each other to ensure that no-one has lack in any area and the church corporately reaches out to the unsaved in practical ways. In doing so, the reality of Jesus is made manifest in them and His glory is seen by all.
Jesus wants his church to be holy, radiant, blameless and without blemishes. In other words, Jesus wants us to be like Him.
The only way the church can do this is if we are totally submitted to Him. It is only if Jesus Christ is truly our Lord that we can flourish and radiate His glory.
Jesus is preparing us for His soon return, He is coming back for a perfect church that will be like a suitable bride for the bridegroom. Only when we see Him face to face will we be as He is but, until that day, we are getting ourselves ready.
The Holy Spirit is working in us revealing who Jesus really is to us and through us. As we yield to Him we become more like Him and as we become more like Him we are more prepared for His return.
Soon and very soon, we are going to see our King and what a day that will be. We will be caught-up with Him in the clouds and we will be with Him for ever.
Lord Jesus, we want to make ourselves ready for you. Amen

21st Century Relevance

21st Century Relevance
video: http://thegist.weebly.com/
Isaiah 43:19 ……… See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.
Without a doubt, the most popular and effective platform for communication in developed and developing countries around the world in the 21st century is multimedia; audio, visual, internet, ipods and mobile phones.
As Social Networking sites such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter now favour using The Cloud as a giant virtual data store, televisions and even emails are becoming old-fashioned in the wake of the digital revolution.*
For the church to be cutting edge and relevant to the X and Y Generations of teens to mid-forties we need to learn their language. I am not talking about compromise, I am taking about connection.
We will not connect with the unsaved or make Christian disciples out of the digitally savvy unless we find common ground to build on and, mostly, that ‘common ground’ is found in the world of digital media.
The old traditional model of church is a prehistoric dinosaur for the digital generation, therefore, we have to find ways of communicating the good news of Jesus Christ that takes us out of our world and into theirs.
On no account can we neglect proclaiming the word of God, both written and prophetic, because that is where the power is; the power to heal, the power to liberate and the power to save. However, we must look for ways to present our message in a relevant format.
You will find TheWayCM on many media platforms; video, audio and written. Before the end of 2009 between YouTube , which is predominantly secular and Tangle (formerly GodTube) which is mostly Christian, our Gist videos will have been viewed around 100,000 times. That is 100,000 opportunities to impact lives with the power of God using a media platform that is relevant to the 21st century.
Lord Jesus, thank you for keeping our finger on the pulse of what is going on in the world around us. Amen

Special Offer

Two Weeks Taster

TheWayCM are offering a special ‘two weeks taster’ for our Training for Life course.
We realise that for many of you to make the leap into a ten weeks commitment for a full semester may be too much. Therefore, we are offering a two weeks taster to give you a glimpse of what our TFL course is all about.

Even although a normal semester runs for ten weeks you will still benefit greatly from being with us for two weeks. You will have a chance to get a feel for the course and, based on that experience, make a decision if you would like to then stay on or come back for the full course.

You will have hands-on experience of what it is like to work with a busy international ministry and this will help you to know what area of ministry that the Lord has called you into. You may even consider being part of one of our missions.

The cost of the two weeks taster including full board and lodging is £300

Contact us for more information: http://www.thewaycm.com/contact-us.html

Servanthood

Servanthood
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com/
Philippians 5:11 ……… Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross. Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Without a heart to serve others we cannot live a Christ-like lifestyle. To reach others with the reality of Jesus we must be prepared to serve them.
A minister of the gospel is not only someone who preaches from the pulpit; a true minister is simply one who serves others.
Jesus laid aside His deity and came to earth to show us the way to absolute victory in life and a prerequisite of that victorious life is to serve.
A major part of The Way Christian Ministries’ (TheWayCM) Training for Life course (TFL) is to develop a heart to serve within and among our trainees. To do this the lifestyle that we aim to live should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.
Our TFL course aims to develop the whole person. It is an holistic course. Why not consider coming along for a two weeks ‘sampler’ or a ten weeks semester; for details see: http://www.thewaycm.com/tfl.html .
You may even want to consider coming on a mission with us. There is a mission opportunity at the end of each ten weeks semester. We will be going to Andhra Pradesh in Southern India at the end of the first semester 2009, for the first two weeks in December.
At TheWayCM we believe in ‘doing the word’. Wherever your mission-field is; your own home, your neighbourhood or the other side of the world, if you have a Christ-like attitude to serving others, you will be to them the tangible gospel that they can see, hear, taste, smell and touch. Jesus plainly told us in Matthew chapter 25 verse 40 that if we do this for others, we do it for Him.
Lord Jesus, thank you for teaching us by example. Amen

Faith

Faith
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com
Hebrews 11:1 ........ Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.
Faith is powerful and active. Faith is awesome. This passage from Hebrews chapter 11 tells us that if we believe we have what we hope for, even although we cannot see it, we will have the substance, the elements; the tangible reality of it.
This supernatural provision from God all hinges on the dynamic of divine faith and that means that we have heard God speak to us on the matter. Faith comes by hearing from God (Romans 10:17).
We have already talked previously of what it means to live by faith. The essence of this requires that we are constantly in dialogue with God in the same way that Jesus taught us to live.
In The Way Christian Ministries God is our provider for everything. As long as we are in God’s will, doing what He tells us, He will provide all that is necessary. Although we believe this, it requires us to hold fast, not wavering through unbelief, to be fully persuaded that God will be faithful to do what He has promised (Romans 4:20).
God manifests His supernatural provision through natural channels. He uses people to distribute His wealth. Real people with real hands to distribute real money, people like you and me. That can be a faith challenge. Often our giving can require just as much faith as our faith to believe we will receive what God has promised.
Faith is outworked in the natural. We can see the evidence of it with our eyes, we can touch it. However, we have to see it, smell it, touch it, hear it and taste it in the spirit first before it becomes a reality.
As Christians we are God’s catalysts for faith both in the provision and in the receiving. The kingdom of God is all about faith from first to last (Romans 1:17). Therefore we are called to live by faith.
Has God challenged you to believe for the ‘impossible’? Has God challenged you to provide for the ‘impossible’? Has God challenged you to do the ‘impossible’?
Live the dream; by faith all things are possible.
Thank you Jesus, you have taught us to live by faith. Amen

Riches

Riches
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com/
1 Timothy 6:17-19 ......... Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.
Here I am sitting in our little caravan in Somerset on the way to Liskeard in Cornwall where I will minister at the weekend. We have just come from Faith Camp in Peterborough where we spent a lovely week meeting old friends and making new ones. Nancy and I feel very blessed.
The Lord has richly blessed us in every way for many years. We are rich. We live by faith, trusting in the Lord to continue to provide all that we need in every situation.
Often we are shocked at the way the world has gone over-the-top with money. The huge amounts of money that get paid to people in bonuses and salaries seem so exaggerated and extreme. In times of a global recession and crippling poverty these sums of money are disproportionate and therefore obscene.
I am sure that those who receive such large sums of money are often generous and philanthropic but I cannot help feel that the world has gone crazy.
I praise God that He has shown us that we have a treasure of far greater value than the world could ever give us. Christians have Christ in us and our salvation is sealed with the precious Holy Spirit. God lives in us, what earthly wealth could compare to that! We are co-heirs with Christ, sharing in all that He has as sons of God. The riches of heaven are our inheritance.
Not only that, but as we share what we have with others, God our Father returns more back to us thus giving us more to share. Hallelujah.
The grace of God has made us rich. We are rich beyond all we could ever ask or imagine and our riches can never spoil or perish. Unlike the wealth of this world that will be lost when we die, the riches of heaven will last forever.
When we invest into the kingdom of God we invest for eternity. Earthly investments have no guarantee and no eternal value. Where are you investing and where is your treasure?
Lord Jesus, thank you for giving us the treasures of heaven. Amen

Tongues and Interpretation

Tongues and Interpretation
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com/
1 Corinthians 14:13 .......... For this reason anyone who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret what he says.
The Apostle Paul, who wrote this letter to the church in Corinth, speaks a lot about tongues and their interpretation; especially in the context of prophecy.
Of the nine gifts of the Holy Spirit listed in 1 Corinthians 12, five of them are oral gifts and two of them are tongues and the interpretation of tongues. The other three are the word of knowledge, the word of wisdom and prophecy.
Prophecy is speaking forth the revelatory word of God for the building-up of those who hear it. Prophecy is powerful and creative.
Jesus, the word of God who lived among us, created the whole universe and its entire contents by speaking forth the word of God that His Father gave Him to say.
When Christian believers, under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, prophesy in the name of Jesus, we unleash the power of God to work through us with unlimited creative potential.
Privately, as we speak in tongues, we edify ourselves. Not only that, we clear the lines of communication between heaven and earth and we are able to clearly hear what God is saying to us.
It is crucial that we take note and we take heed of what God is saying (more about Spiritual Journals later). Important as it is that we hear God, it is equally important that we do what He says.
Corporately, tongues are for building-up and speaking into the lives of the gathered group who hear us. The interpretation of the tongues often comes from the speaker of the tongues. The interpretation is a prophetic word from God and should be treated as such.
We must not treat prophecy with contempt but respectfully respond as unto the Lord.
Private tongues are for our personal edification; corporate tongues are for the edification of everyone else.
Lord Jesus, thank you for baptising us in the Holy Spirit and teaching us how to prophesy. Amen

Relationships

Relationships
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com
John 15:12-13 ……. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
God wants us to have relationships; firstly in a vertical direction with Him and then the horizontal with everyone else. Entering into a relationship is like going on a mission to another country; it is like entering into the private world of the people around us. Every person we talk to is unique – no two people or their circumstances are the same.
When I go on mission I quickly try to adapt to the culture of the country. I do my best to become as much like them as I can. I eat their food, learn their language and try to live like them. I find and establish as much common ground as I can and try to connect on as many levels as possible. Before I can get to know anyone else I need to be confident in my own identity. I need to know who I am as a new creation in Christ.
I cut my teeth in Drumchapel; a housing ‘scheme’ in the north-west of Glasgow where I pastored for eight years. The area that I worked in was like an island within the island of Drumchapel. I had to learn the language, understand the culture, get to know the people and spend time ‘hanging-out’ on the streets and in their homes. In the end I built up many profound and lasting relationships.
All of us want to get on with our family but precisely because it is our family we put higher expectations upon them. I did this with my dad. I wanted him to be the best dad, a model dad, one that I could proudly hold up and show off. He could not meet my unrealistically high expectations and I was bitterly disappointed. Tragically, my hero-worship turned to disrespect and dishonour.
Fortunately, the Lord gave me some keys to unlock the treasure chest of His love and our relationship began to change before he died and was promoted to glory.
I had to accept him for who he was and not who I wanted him to be. I had to get into his world to discover who he was. I had to go on a mission to my dad’s world. Instead of looking for all the negative let-downs, I had to search for common ground to build upon. Over time our relationship grew and so too did our love and respect for each other.
Every relationship is similar, we need to take time to get to know what their world is all about; to understand their language and culture and, if we really want to get to know them, we need to adapt and to drop our preconceptions and prejudices and to love them where they are at and for who they are.
Lord Jesus, please help us to love unconditionally like you. Amen

The Widow’s Mite

The Widow’s Mite
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com/
Luke 21:1-4 …….. As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. "I tell you the truth," he said, "this poor widow has put in more than all the others. All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on."
Jesus was watching the offertory, more importantly, He was watching what offerings the people were bringing. He saw that the poor widow gave sacrificially as she gave all she had and He observed that those who had wealth gave a portion that, for them, was not a sacrifice. Jesus saw that the widow’s giving was greater, not because of the quantity but because of the cost.
When our Father in heaven sent Jesus to earth, it cost Him everything, Jesus on the Cross held nothing back, He gave us all He had. What about us? Are we giving as much as we can to Jesus or are we holding back?
Everything we have comes from God, it is His blessing upon us. We cannot hold back from Him or else we rob Him. As we give back to God what He has given us He multiplies back to us all that we give. He will not be out-given because God is no man’s debtor.
However, as God increases the blessings back into our lives, He wants our giving to increase also. The more we give, the more God will give us back so that, in turn, we can give more. Glory to God.
Is God challenging you to give what you have? God knows our circumstances and He knows what we have. God loves a cheerful giver. Are we rejoicing as we empty our pockets into God’s offertory? Are we singing as God’s multiplied blessings rain down upon us?
Lord Jesus, help us to count our blessings and not our money. Amen

Training for Life Course

I am starting new students in September who will participate in our Training for Life course and some of them will accompany me on the next Mission.
I am restricting the intake to only six students; first-come-first-served.
In this way the training will be more effective.
Are you interested? Follow this link to contact us: http://www.thewaycm.com/contact-us.html

The 'Training for Life' course has five key elements:
1) Our spiritual life is developed through teaching from the bible and Godly lifestyle as we live out our lives in humility and reverence with holiness before God and men.
2) Through the practical work of everyday life we learn the joy of selfless servanthood.
3) In creative workshops the Holy Spirit reveals the majesty and the magnitude of God the creator and this becomes a platform for true worship.
4) As we learn to care for our physical bodies we are able to present ourselves before people and God in a way that brings the Father all the glory.
5) Through ministerial opportunities, the trainees will be able to share with others the richness of their revelations and their practical insights.

Training for Life

Training for Life
Video: http://www.thewaycm.com/tfl.html
Philippians 2:5-11 …….. Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death — even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

4) As we learn to care for our physical bodies we are able to present ourselves before people and God in a way that brings our heavenly Father all the glory.
5) Through ministerial opportunities, the trainees will be able to share with others the richness of their revelations and their practical insights.

The Anointing

The Anointing
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com
Exodus 30:22-31 …… Then the LORD said to Moses, "Take the following fine spices: 500 shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much (that is, 250 shekels) of fragrant cinnamon, 250 shekels of fragrant cane, 500 shekels of cassia—all according to the sanctuary shekel—and a hin of olive oil. Make these into a sacred anointing oil, a fragrant blend, the work of a perfumer. It will be the sacred anointing oil. Then use it to anoint the Tent of Meeting, the ark of the Testimony, the table and all its articles, the lampstand and its accessories, the altar of incense, the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the basin with its stand. You shall consecrate them so they will be most holy, and whatever touches them will be holy. "Anoint Aaron and his sons and consecrate them so they may serve me as priests. Say to the Israelites, 'This is to be my sacred anointing oil for the generations to come.
God initiated the anointing process and gave strict instructions through Moses about how to make the anointing oil and what to anoint. Selected objects and individuals were sanctified (made holy) and consecrated (set apart) because of the anointing. The pungent fragrance of the anointing oil ensured that everyone knew precisely who and what was anointed.
The anointing must be honoured and respected and so too should those who are anointed. Although we are now living in the 21st century, the principles remain the same as in Old Testament times; we should respect what God has anointed.
Jesus is ‘the anointed one’. The word ‘Christ’ means, in Greek, ‘the anointed one’ as does ‘Messiah’ in Hebrew.
Christians should be living a Christ-like lifestyle and, as such, the anointing should be evident in their lives. The anointing, therefore, is the tangible evidence of Christ in us and our lifestyle should reveal and magnify our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
When we live as Jesus would, the anointing should be so real that the presence of Jesus in and around us will cause some to even smell the fragrance of Christ.
The woman with the alabaster jar in Mark 14:3 is a prophetic picture of every Christian believer; we who love Jesus are broken before Him, pride has gone and humility has come bringing with it a desire to pour out our lives in service for Him. This is like an anointing poured out releasing a beautiful fragrance that fills the place where we are with the tangible presence of Christ.
Lord Jesus, thank you for the anointing of the Holy Spirit to help us to reveal you to others. Amen

Modern Morality

Modern Morality
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com
2 Timothy 3: 1-4 …….. But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God
Standards have changed; the parameters have shifted. What was once unacceptable we have come to accept. Why is that?
One reason may be the change in our home lives. Many young people in this generation are growing up in homes where there is little or no parenting. Nowadays, everyone has easy access to all kinds of ‘entertainment’ through satellite TV, DVDs and the Internet. Consequently much of the ‘parenting’ input to our children comes from an unsolicited source of media junk.
The made-up lives of soap opera families have become the guidelines that we follow as though they were an insight into reality instead of being the acted-out drama from a persuasive script created in the mind of a production team.
Censorship and respect have all but disappeared. Gone are the days when the family would gather together at least once a day around the dinner table. A time when everyone would chatter away about what was going on in their lives – everyone listening and everyone contributing.
Nowadays, if we do come together it is very often around the TV; turned on, volume up competing for our attention. If the TV fails to distract us then our mobile phone will succeed when it demands a text response to some inane piece of nonsense from an unknown ‘friend’ on Facebook or Twitter.
This is not multi-tasking, this is simply bad manners. If our children or our peer group do not have the common decency to give each other their undivided attention (even for half-an-hour-once-a-day) then it is time that a few simple ground rules were put into place.
To start with; can we turn off ALL electronic equipment so that we can talk, uninterrupted, at meal times or at a pre-determined time for half-an-hour-once-a-day or at some points during the week? Can we have ‘family time’?
Call me old-fashioned, but if we do not make an effort to build relationships in our own family, how can we ever hope to teach our children to relate, honour and respect those around them. Let us begin to value the members of our own family with mutual trust and love for each other. This is achievable, we can do it…….
Lord Jesus, You give us your undivided attention because you love us and because you are interested in who we are. Amen

Political Correctness

Political Correctness
Video: http://thegist.weebly.com
Acts 2:36-37 …….. "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ." When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?"
With so much that is wrong going on in the world around us, it is difficult not to make any comment – especially when much of what we are witnessing is not only anti-Christian, it is blatantly anti-Christ. Yet the contemporary Christian voice is usually weak and, more often, silent. Why is this?
It is because we have been duped by the media into believing that the Christian way, the ‘right’ way, is one of diplomatic political correctness. Effectively, we have been gagged but, more accurately, we have been conned.
Other faiths and minority groups are quick to rise-up and make their opinions known but where are we when it comes to standing-up for Jesus and Christian ethics?
When we do have the ‘audacity’ to speak out, the media portrays us as a pathetic little bunch of wimps huddled around a few dog-eared placards with a dog-collared politically correct spokesperson, barking into the wind with nothing substantial to say.
This is not how it should be. This is not how it was in the early church. Look at Peter, the bold spokesman, fearlessly confronting the very people who crucified Jesus and look at the results (Acts 2:41).
Do not be deceived into remaining silent. Do not be fooled by ‘political correctness’. This world is going to the dogs and we have a responsibility to tell it as it is. What would Jesus do? What did the leaders of the early church do? What are you doing?
Lord Jesus, thank you for giving us a holy boldness with which to confront and correct a messed-up world. Amen.
